forgive the cliche, but this has become such a passion for me the past few years, and i couldn’t think of another way to say it…

inspired by the Advent Conspiracy movement (www.adventconspiracy.org) i’m collecting websites and resources which address gift-giving in a meaningful way, rather than the typical consumeristic “shop till you drop” mentality.  as a teacher, i’m also looking for ways to spread this “paradigm” to the kids i work with by emphasizing GIVING rather than GETTING.  here are the resources i have found so far–if you have others, please comment so I can add them too!

Connection of Hope: 50% of the proceeds for the items you buy will go toward supporting poverty-stricken Mayan families in Guatemala.

Mayan Familes.org:  Go to the “programs” button to learn about the wide variety of services you can help provide Mayan families in Guatemala, including providing Christmas food baskets, chickens, food and milk, health care, and lots more.
